Default Broken headphone jack.. (what would be cheaper)?

Hi,
I have a DIGI 002 console. Somehow my headphone jack on the unit broke. The jack basically got pushed inside the unit. Im guessing someone pulled on the cord the wrong way. Anyways, I used a tweaser to pull it out so I could plug my headpones in, and they work. Problem is I know its going to totally break one of these days.

MY QUESTION IS:

What would be cheaper, get it repaired.... or go buy a headphone amp and just connect it to the main outs on the 002.

If sending it out for repair would be cheaper, could you recommend a place where I could send it? Im not sure if bringing it to guitar center would be the best choice.

NO, I DONT HAVE A WARRANTY ON IT ANYMORE.

Thanks,
Brian

Hello

Is the front pannel broken or are you just missing the nut?

This really should be a simple repair for a sound engineer.

Brian,

Where on the planet are you located? You can probably find a guy on this forum that lives in the same town as you who would fix it for a couple beers.

I would check with Digi CS for the closest authorised repair center. They will have likely seen the problem before and be able to advise you best on repairing it. If the repairs are more than you want to spend you may want to look at something like a Mackie Bog Knob or other distribution box. Also keep in mind the 002's resale is dropping relatively fast. You may never get the cost of repairing the unit out of the sale-on the other hand selling the unit with a busted headphone jack is going to be a very hard sell also. I don't think the unit needs to be working to be eligable for a Digi hardware trade in program either, You might want to balance the cost of repairs against the trade in allowence.

Actually you can probably find someone from out of town if enough beer was involved...
I would like to know if the jack is soldered to the board (pretty much standard theese days) or connected via a a wiring harness or jumpers. I was looking at mine the other wondering if I could add another headphone ala the 003....

No the front panel is not broken.

I have the washer and nut, but when I try to tighten it loosens back up like its stripped. I suppose I could see if its just the nut that is stripped.. If so, maybe a hardware store would carry it. Im just nervous that the actual components inside that connect the headphone jack are gonna pull out. Then what am I gonna do??!

This is one reason why im not too fond of the 002. If there were 2 headphone outputs this wouldn't be a problem. So if I cant fix this im going to look into a headphone amp so I can have everyone in the control room listening thru cans if I felt like it!
