Default New M-Audio M-track Eight interface 8 I/O for $399.-

I wrote about it within another thread yesterday but as I have found only positive reviews about it
and do think this could be a really interesting 8 micpres/I/O interface for $399.- I decided to additionally
open a dedicated thread for it.
http://m-audio.com/products/view/m-track-eight

The M-Audio M-track Eight is a brand new unit which was introduced at Namm 2014 and has been
on the market since summer 2014 and it offers pretty cool stuff for the price like

8 micpres/8 Line inputs
8 balanced Line outputs
true zero latency
simultaneously recording of 8 channels
24bit/96KHz
dual headphone outputs on the front panel
phantom power
good quality Octane Technology preamps (Dynamic Range 112dB)
Class Compliant Mode
Mac 10.7.5 and higher/Win7, 8, 8.1
8-channel-mixer standalone mode
Waves plugins included (AudioTrack, Eddie Kramer Effect Channel,
TrueVerb, L1 Ultramaximizer, Manny Marroquin Delay)

It seems to be of good quality and easy to use. Have a listen/look at first reviews.

Articles about it

Class Compliant Mode makes it effortless and plain to use with Macs as there are no drivers
needed which means no driver issues unlike with many other brands in this price range.
What it obviously does not have is Midi but because of all those cheap USB Midi interfaces
out there this is no serious problem actually.

It seems to be pretty fresh on the market and at many online stores you only can kinda preorder it but
there are some places it is already available from.

In europe there are more shops already to get it from.

Continental european countries (Germany, Austria etc.-Thomann store and Amazon.de deliver to
most of the continental countries)

So IMO this looks quite interesting and seems to be a nice piece of gear in this price range, a good
alternative to Focusrite, Presonus etc.

All the best everybody, the best of success,

I wonder if this is their answer to the profire 2626 death. Looks kinda wonky but if the pre-amps can be bypassed and the convertors are decent, this is DEFINITELY on my radar. I just bought a behringer fca 1616 to run as the host interface in my rig with my 2626 piped in through optic so I can keep using it. (essentially using the behringer as a vehicle for my 2626!) I've yet to test it but even if it works I hate weird work arounds :-(

true zero latency simultaneously recording of 8 channels
What does this even mean? Recordings always have latency, and compensating for it is up to the DAW, not the interface.

As far as I could read/hear one can record all 8 tracks simultaneously with this interface
and it has a 0 zero latency monitor section like the MBox 2 once had.
It has the same Direct/USB knob where one can mix the signal directly from the hardware
input with the signal coming from the DAW via USB.
Just like with the MBox 2. So, I haven´t used this unit myself yet, just saw it on the web
and thought there are not too many usable 8 micpre/inputs interfaces in this price range
and this one could be interesting to some people.

I think I see what happened. Those are two separate points:
  • true zero latency
  • simultaneously recording of 8 channels

Seems like a nice way to step up to more preamps, for people with smaller interfaces.
