Well . . I have to say V4 is just what I needed right now .
Got some electric gtr tracks, front, rear & ambience, that needed tweaking . .
As with many things in life with a little care & attention to detail it sounds great. .
I'm loving the multi track feature . . like reaallly useful .
No complaints here

For what it's worth, and in my opinion, I've been using 4 extensively for awhile now and it offers significant sonic improvements over v3 (all versions). V3 and earlier had issues with formant shifting on "s" and "t" and "ffff" type consonants. That's greatly dealt with in 4.

It tracks shout/scream singers with MUCH greater accuracy than ever before. I get it, not everyone deals with Nickelback/Metallica/Daughtry style singers. But it's 75% of my vocal load. So it's a God-send.

It imports silence (and all files) in a blink, even on my old 5,1 MacPro. V3 and earlier would choke on silence. I no longer need to print noise on silent passages just to import faster. If you're pulling in 30 files, that can save literally hours a week (or 10s of hours).

The interface is vastly different than those used to Studio 3. It's a bit over engineered imho. I've also been a v3 user since 2006 or 7, so I'm used to the less gadgets.

Export is a little clunkier. No spot to pro tools (I've begged to have it put back). The new tempo thing will bite people in the behind a bunch when importing files to Pro Tools (my bet). People can contact me if they need help with issues if stuff comes back "out of time". I'm not a Celemony employee. But I have.... experience... with timing workflows in 4 that might benefit folks. I don't want you to suffer like I did lol.

All in all, it's a great product. A little more cumbersome for someone like me, but I think it's a very useful tool that offers sonic and workflow improvements over v3 (which was like 8+ years old).

As a plus, v3 and v4 can work side by side (and v4 can open v3 files but not vice versa).

my 3c.

Yes I agree. I came to 4 from 2 & I miss the undo buttons. . . It's all very well having cmd z but if you click in PT then cmd z it's commanding PT not melodyne.
The undo buttons were failsafe. . I know, I can change the command in pref's but hey . . it would be nice to have the choice. .

I always check with the young interns when new "deeper" tools hit the market. Since the 4.02 update they've been doing some amazing sound designer type things with Mel 4. As well as basic tuning and harmonies. Mel no longer kills the highs.

I plan to do some controlled sonics tests myself when I get some time, but so far V4 has been great here.

Just an update, I received an email from Celemony with a free upgrade to 4 Essential. I didn't know this but the upgrade from Essential 1 or 2 is free!

I'm probably one of the few cheapskates on the DUC using this version, but it was a nice surprise.

"Melodyne 4 essential. The entry-level Melodyne.
Melodyne 4 essential contains Melodyne’s Main Tool for the basic editing of pitch and timing, thereby offering a particularly simple and economical entry into the world of Melodyne. And if you ever need more functions, you can always upgrade to one of the larger editions simply by paying the difference in price.
Free of charge – more info about this update"

Melodyne gets really expensive really quick as you move through the upgrades - but I think I need to start with the basic version - $99 for version 4?
