Default S/PDIF (from Delta 1010) to AES on SC48

Hi,

I have a PC with an M-Audio Delta 1010.

The PCI card has a S/PDIF digital output on two phono connectors (Input and Output).

How do I convert this output to the single AES XLR digital input on an SC48?

Does the single phone output on the PC card and single XLR input on the SC48 carries a stereo signal?

I only need stereo from the PC so dont want the hassle of using two of the analog connectors on the breakout box with the 1010.
I thought using digital straight out of the PCI card to the console would be best. I just dont know how to do this.

Thanks
TS

With a bit of googling I have come across the Hosa CDL-313 which looks like it might do what I want. I just dont know enough about digital standards to know myself.

Also, I have read that just making up a phono to XLR cable with the phono outer connection going to pin 1 on the XLR and the centre rca pin going to EITHER pins 2 or 3 on the XLR.
Might this work?

Lundahl makes a suitable transformer for S/PDIF to AES conversion, seen here:
http://www.lundahl.se/pdf/1574.pdf

K and K audio is a distributor of Lundahl transformers and also has some PCBs and such, might be a good resource for one looking to build a converter box.

EDIT: just noticed you are in Belfast, in which case K&K might not be your best option, but Lundahl is Swedish, so I'm sure you have distributor options. Sowter(UK) may also have similar units , but I can't get their webpage to load at the moment, so don't quote me on that.
