Offline Bounce SLOW - HDN on PT11HD 11.0.2 with OS 10.8(Latest)
Ok, latest bounce of a session with around 60 tracks, hundred+ (~150ish?) of Waves V9(Latest Rev) Diamond Native + L316
Mac Pro QX 3.2 32GB RAM System: 256 SSD (Crucial M4, OWC Tray, HDD Slot1) Audio: Mac OEM (WD? 2TB 3.5 HDD Slot2) 2 Other 2TB HDDs for Samples and Archive - Not actively accessed in sessions Latest Rev of Mountain Lion PT 11.0.2 HD HDN Card - 1st Slot next to Vid (5770) EDITED TO ADD: Using 8GB Cache, at around 30% in this session Other installs include Final Cut Pro X, Logic Pro X, DSP-Quattro That's it Currently no other SSD's (Had trouble with a Sonnet eSata PCIe Card, so removed) Was wondering if my second 256 SSD in a PCIe host was an issue, so I removed it as well Same issue: Bouncing the session offline streams up around 25% complete, then gets slow - glitchy progress bar, updates roughly every 3 seconds, and basically ends in bouncing real time Anyone else experience this? I've been searching the forum here for offline bounce issues, and only seeing other issues I am not experiencing. Stereo bounces through A 1/2 Further info: HD I/O 16 on port one, with a 192 piggy backed Sync HD and MIDI I/O (Loop Sync'd) Removing Sync HD, MIDI I/O and 192 makes no change .... Always bouncing to include MP3 - Come to think of it I will try as WAV or MP3 only to see if that changes anything, but in the meantime, ^^^^^^

Check to see if you have any plugins that go into a high oversampling mode when doing offline bounces. IE I know 2caudio B2 by default is set to a really high quality mode when doing offline bounces and can result in slower than real time bounce...
Worth a shot. |

Just curious why you're using a hardware path instead of a buss. Probably has nothing to do with your issue.

Re: Offline Bounce SLOW - HDN on PT11HD 11.0.2 with OS 10.8(Latest)
A lot of sessions are setup with a master fader on the output that feeds the speakers. This is actually how Avid writes the manual/quickstart guide.
I use a buss myself (template has one actually named 'bounce buss') so I can split multiple feeds after the 2. But going by sessions that come in for mixing it is pretty common. OTOH for myself I rarely use master faders (especially in the floating point era)...Even in the TDM days they always got left out of my sessions for the lack of aux sends and me being just barely old school enough that my brain needs gain staging to be 'proper' even if it doesn't really matter (can of worms I know). That's the beauty of PT IMO, it's still (thankfully) the only daw that won't try to stop you from making a feedback loop. |

Only plugs are Waves v9 Diamond (Latest rev)
I will go through and take em offline plug by plug and see what's up Master - It's just the workflow I'm used to.... I have 24 faders (Bankable) in front of me and can quickly and easily get my hands on any track in my session and I've never liked bussing groups prior to output/master - aside from Aux sends for verbs and delays and things.... I write a lot of automation to sends Just how I work.... I'm monitoring off my HD I/O through a Dangerous D Box and also using 6 more channels through headphone distribution for custom monitor mixes Maybe some day I'll switch up how I work, but for now it's fast and easy and natural for me

I'm afraid you'll have to wait for PT & Waves updates.
