L3 cache and HD3?
Friends and acquaintances all seem to give me conflicting stories regarding the importance of the L3 cache and the HDPT systems.I'm planning on buying my first PT system and my knowledge of the PT architecture is limited.
Would it be wiser to purchase a 800MHZ mac with the L3 cache or the 733MHZ mac without it. I'm only going to be running PT on this computer--and I'm not concerned with the Superdrive that comes with most 800Mhz.I'm only concerned with performance impact. Thanks |

Re: L3 cache and HD3?

the relevance of L3 cache to PT is one of the great mysteries to me. i've read several posts and there doesn't seem to be any definitive answer. it seems that it helps with soft synth/RTAS/HTDM performance, but i stress seems. if you aren't planning on using soft synths/RTAS/HTDM, i think it is irrelevant. do a search on the 001 forum for more speculation. i'll be checking in here in hopes that someone can answer the question. best of luck holly ps - all of the info i read was regarding TDM and 001 systems, not HD |
