midi shifts when bpm changes
I have a song that I want to slow down just a bit, but when i do all my midi shifts and is no longer in sync.
The tracks are TICKS not samples. I have googled and I have not found any other answers. Thanks for any help. I created a screen video recording so you can see what I see, https://www.dropbox.com/s/bqh73w5dw6...shift.mov?dl=0 |

Re: midi shifts when bpm changes
Can you try changing the session tempo as follows:
To change the session tempo: 1.) Double-click the Song Start Marker in the Edit window. 2.) Enter the BPM value for the session. 3.) Set the Location to 1|1|000 (to ensure that the inserted tempo event replaces the default). 4.) From the Resolution pop-up menu, select the note value for the beat. (For example, if you are in 6/8, select a dotted-quarter note, 4/4, select a quarter note.) 5.) Click OK |

Re: midi shifts when bpm changes
Hi, Thanks for the response.
I followed the steps and the result is the same. The location can not be changed when using the start start marker so its already 1|1|000. The song is pretty simple so 4/4 quarter note is already selected. The midi still shifts instead of being stuck to the bar. Is there something Im suppose to do to glue the notes down? Thanks |

Re: midi shifts when bpm changes
This project is a copy of another one that I deleted all the audio sample tracks so I can change the BPM. As a test I went back into the original and made the change there, even with the audio sample tracks, and it shifted correctly.
I saved as a new copy and I have what I needed to move forward. I don't know why making a copy would have caused anything to be different but life goes on. Thanks for your help. |

Re: midi shifts when bpm changes
Which Pro Tools version do you have? Some midi problems like notes off grid when copying clips, changing tempo, applying cut or insert time have been fixed with the 2022.6

Re: midi shifts when bpm changes
It appears to me that your midi notes are doing exactly what you want them to do if you change the tempo. It's your grid lines that are not moving so the results only look wrong (should still sound right though).
I think your grid is currently showing "timecode" which would not be effected by a tempo change. And since you were at 80bpm, some of your notes actually landed on that timecode grid! Change your grid to read bars and beats and the grid lines should move with the notes as you alter the tempo. |
