Default importing wavs....static

A friend of mine just got an mbox, he's trying to import wavs he recorded in sonar...went to import audio to track. he can preview the audio just fine but when it's in pt, it's static. He's in chicago, I'm in LA so I can't help him in person. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Default Re: importing wavs....static

Need more information, I had a stange anomoly with PTLE 5.1.3 bouncing to disk would sound fine as it was going down, but have large chunks of static, or white noise at 0db throughout the file.

This hasn't happened in a long time, and hasn't happened at all since I upgraded to 6.0 - 6.1 - 6.1.1

I'd tell your friend to be sure he's running the latest software - Wav - and ASIO drivers available to him - If the preview is fine, then his export from sonar was ok, find out if he can see the static in the waveform in pro-tools, ot if the wav form looks healthy, but just sounds off static during playback.

is it all the time??? or just 1 session ??? if your friend continues to experience these problems, find out some of these details, and post them, or have him come to the DUC and comment on this thread.

I also had 1 session, completely turn into white noise on me, for no reason once.... back on ptle5.3.1 i had to load all my audio into A-WAVE and re-build the files, specifying DCoffset, sample rate, bit depth, and channels, and by doing this manually, to every single file, I was able to salvage the session, but there is no reason why it would have corrupted like this, other than perhaps an early bug in the PC / Mac compat, which would obvioustly have been cleared up by upgrading.

let us know.
