Default Eleven Rack not at Guitar Center?

Why doesn't Guitar Center carry Eleven Rack? Are they out of stock? Discontinued? Waiting for a new version?

Who knows. Hopefully its not discontinued. I love this orange box

I am interested in seeing what comes from Avid at NAB 2013
they are saying:

State-of-the-art demos and
Game-changing product announcements

23 days and we will know

Sounds to me like they are going to finally announce something about PT XI. Unfortunately that won't be any sort of Game-changing announcement for me, imagine the price, shudder down the spine!

Alto and Sweetwater have plenty. There was another thread on this (by Derker?).

Short story. Unconfirmed. GC simply didnt buy enough and sold out. They have rarely if ever stocked them in the stores either.

GC.com may have them. A buddy got them to price match a month or so ago. If not try Alto, B&H or Sweetwater.

Guitar Center has never really carried the 11R, nor promoted it, for some strange reason. Neither has Sam Ash.

They missed out big time on a lot of sales.

I've said somethign similar before and somebody corrected me that their Sam Ash store had carried the Eleven Rack and even promoted it with a point of sale display, etc. But that was a while ago.

For a lot of stores I suspect the margins at the current $600-700 street prices is just not worth worrying about. And at almost no margin I'm nor sure they are worried about missing out on sales volume. And its is probalby hard to have many folks on staff who understand the Eleven Rack. Especially for smaller independent stores I expect it is easier and likely more profitable to focus on fairly standard mainstream amps and ensure you also have enough high-end and high margin boutique valve amps. I certainly see that at local stores in the SF Bay Area.

I've never understood local GC not carrying them. Well, other than the possibility of lost revenue from not selling other product. You get the shoulder shrug and a sincere sounding "i dunno" when you ask the sales dudes. I've even had them say that brand X or Y is finally getting close to it in tone at least.

My experience is that they salesperson is probably only interested in whatever PT bundle or MBox they are offering at the moment when it comes to Pro Tools. AFAIK my local GC - which is the largest of all the GCs in Ohio has had exactly one 11R in stock since they were introduced in 2008. It sat for about 3 months sold and was never reordered. HD, HDN or HDX? Forget it.

Given how cranky PT can be on consumer hardware I wouldnt blame a salesman for not pushing to hard to sell it only to have a irate customer return it.

* I've only been to the North Olmsted, Mayfield Heights, Montrose, Boardman and Toledo GC's. It's possible the Columbus or Cinci store is larger. The Nashville GC is about 30-40% larger. The KC GC is smaller.

I bought mine at GC. It was the only one I ever saw in the store before or after I bought it.
