Pro Tools Ultimate / Pro Tools perpetual license renewal coming up soon...
Here's my deal in a nutshell...
1.) I own and have kept up all these years PT Ultimate perpetual for my fully loaded 2010 Mac Pro main studio mac. Cost last year $399, cost this year $399. 2.) I own a 2nd iLok for a PC laptop I take with me on the road that has an academic PT regular perpetual license. Cost last year $99, cost this year $99. Every year I ask myself the same question, why renew? What will Avid do to earn my business with developing, improving and delivering a solid, innovative and competitive DAW product worthy of my hard earned green? This time I have a big ask, is AVID up to the challenge? What is it? Here it is... Pro Tools fully natively compatible with Big Sur/Monterey on an M1 Mac by Christmas 2021. Possible? Probable? Anyone have thoughts? AVID you know customers like me are chompin' at the bit to buy new Macs that run Pro Tools natively with low latency and have great workflows. The M1 fits the bill. For me, I want an M1 Mac with working Pro Tools and a Presonus 4848 interface for Christmas - DONE! I have everything I need to track music in my studio (with my other already owned gear) and can retire my 192 blue interfaces and my HD Native Card. Let's have it AVID, earn my business this year. Ok if you can't do that, stop the bolting of third party products to try and add value, especially if you're going to alienate perpetual users and only give the booby prizes to subscribers. Instead, go back to your glory days and develop new plugins, new VIs and integrate them into Pro Tools as standard tools we can use and love. Melodyne at this point or maybe something better for tuning vocals should be easier to use and more tightly integrated. Go after bread and butter tools that can be included in Pro Tools, not a third party extra. Ok that's my 2 cents, as always respectfully submitted for your consideration.

Re: Pro Tools Ultimate / Pro Tools perpetual license renewal coming up soon...
Something to consider is that AVID discontinued their reinstatement plans. So if you do not renew you will not be able to get back in for any reasonable price for a perpetual license. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they remove all options and make it subscription only fairly soon. They’re pushing (manipulating) hard for it.
