Default Pro Tools 11 and MBox 2 Pro hangs during Initializing Audio Engine

I have seen quite a few threads and other 'blurbs' about this, but I still cannot get PT11 to get past the initialize audio engine stage when starting. It hangs there. Seems to be a very common issue over time.

I am using the following.

1) Pro Tools version 11.2.2

2) MBox 2 Pro with the Avid Mbox 2 Pro Driver (x64) version 11.0.0.529

3) Playback device in my control panel is set to Digidesign Mbox 2 Pro 1/2 (as default and default communication device)

4) The Playback Engine (by pressing 'N' during startup) is set to Mbox 2 Pro, H/W Buffer Size - 256 samples, and the Dynamic PlugIn Processing is checked by default.

5) My computer:

Window 7 Home Premium, SP1
64-Bit OS

Intel(R) Cor(TM) i5-4690K CPU @ 3.50GHz
8GB of RAM

Hopefully it is something simple I am doing wrong.

Any help would be appreciated. Haven't used PT since LE 7!

Thanks!

Went back to PT10. That did it.

Make sure you are running PT as administrator. Right click on the PT icon and select "Run as Administrator".

I had the same issue with the AutoTune.dpm.. Turns out an update of Window 7 I had to due do to computer issues changed the dynamics of how Windows 7 worked with Pro Tools. I had to crossgrade up to PT 11 and for me, that allowed the upgrade of AutoTune to work & PT doesn't hang up anymore. Computers!!
If it's a driver for the audio engine you're using being corrupt or a bit old for the newer PT11, could a universal driver maybe work for you? Here's a site.. http://www.asio4all.com/ PT11 would hang up on my Project Mix I/O. The most updated driver for it didn't work. It's gettin' on in years and all. So, a gentleman, Julius from AVID in Oregon who helped my do my upgrade to PT11 went and got this asio driver, and ProjectMix works like a dream. Good luck!

Hi

Another version of same problem.

I'm back to the forum after five great years of work with Pro Tools 7 and 8. I decided to move to the new computer, OS and Pro Tools 11 at one time. And, for heaven sake, Pro Tools stops during launching, at "Initializing Audio Engine". The computer is brand new and almost empty, just OS, Quick Time, iLok stuff and bare Pro Tools, without third party plugins. Here's full specification of my workstation:

OS: Windows 8.1
Pro Tools: 11.3
Audio interface: MBox 2 Pro
Interface driver: Avid MBox 2 Pro driver ver. 11.0.0.0

Computer:

MSI Z97 Gaming 3
Intel i7-4790
RAM: Kingston HyperX Savage DDR3 16 GB
System Disc: Kingston SATA3 SSD Fury 120 GB
Data Disc: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200 SATA/600
Graphic: Asus Radeon R7 260X DC2 1 GB DDR5

When launch music from Quick Time, Mbox play as usual, without problems. And yes, I started Pro Tools with "N" holded and MBox is choosed as an audio interface, of course I'm running PT as admin.
Please help!

With PT 11, your Pro Tools soundcard should NOT be for Windows sounds/audio. Make your onboard soundcard the default and leave your box only for Pro Tools.

Cheers,
