Default Subwoofer on the 003

Where would I hook up a subwoofer in the 003?

Thanks

If it's a mono subwoofer, how about this:

Connect the subwoofer to Analog 8 output.

Create a mono master fader on Analog 8.

Put a low pass filter on this mono master fader.
(Such as Digi's one band EQ with these settings: Frequency, 150 Hz; Filter 24 dB/oct; Type, Low Pass)

Create a stereo Aux input. Set it's input to the master mix bus. No output.

Put a send on this Aux track to mono Analog 8. Adjust the send to negative 6 decibels, because you are routing both tracks of the stereo to one mono track.

Put another send on this Aux track to Analog 5/6. Set the send's volume to 0 decibels. Connect the full range speakers to Analog 5/6.

Create a stereo master fader on Analog 5/6. You can put a high pass filter to make low frequency sounds not come out of the full range speakers.
(same settings as the low pass filter above, except "type" should be set to "high pass")

The stereo Aux input track now acts as both your main volume and as your crossover.

Or, likely your subwoofer has stereo ins and outs, meaning that it has it's own crossover already. Just connect Analog 1/2 from the 003 to the Subwoofer and your full range monitors to the line outs of the subwoofer.

Then you don't have to worry about all those complicated tracks I described.

Actually, most sub's are set up to accomodate this with no special patching.. You run directly from your source L/R outs... in this case your 003... into L/R inputs on the sub. Then you plug your L/R monitors into the dedicated monitor/main L/R outs on the sub.

That subwoofer has XLR ins and outs. And has all the pass filters built in.

Connect 2 balanced 1/4 inch to balanced XLR cables from the 003 to the subwoofer. Adjust the dials on the subwoofer. And connect your two monitors to the back of the subwoofer.

It can be used both as LFE channel in a surround system or as a bass or sub-bass complement in a stereo system (2.1 or 2.2).

Therefore it includes all the features (with easy settings) to achieve this task, such as a stereo high pass filter (75 or 100Hz) for the left and right satellites, low pass filter (adjustable) with mono summation, phase inverter, phase fine tuning, mute switch, 2.1 bypass with a foot-switch remote control (not included), etc.
