HELP!!! Session won\'t open anymore.
I was just finishing the midi parts of a song when after arming an audio track for recording, this warning popped up: “Could not complete your request because of end of file”, so I closed everything and tried to start all over but PT won't let me open the session anymore. I am pretty sure that the midi data is still there in the file because I checked it with Fastfind utility. I wonder if there is a way to recover at least the midi stuff. Or am I just joining the “Lost Work” PT club? Please, HELP!!!
Thanks, Antonio. |

Re: HELP!!! Session won\'t open anymore.
Maybe if you created a new session and tried to transfer those tracks into the new session it might work?
Do you defrag your drives often? Are you running out of room on your audio drive? Try a search in the DUC for "Could not complete your request because of end of file" I'm sure others have had similar problems and there are probably answers already in the DUC. Also, try opening your session two ways, 1 start Pro Tools and then do "file" "open", or 2- open up your session from it's folder (PT is closed and opening your session starts PT). Good luck.

Re: HELP!!! Session won\'t open anymore.
Hi Karen,
Maybe if you created a new session and tried to transfer those tracks into the new session it might work? -I tried that with track transfer utility. It works with everything but Midi tracks, which are greyed out. I really don´t much care about audio tracks right now since I'm in the beginning of the recording process, but the midi stuff is a real problem. Anyway, thanks for trying to help. Antonio. |

Re: HELP!!! Session won\'t open anymore.
The Track Transfer Utility has been gone for some time, you should try creating a new session and using "Import Tracks" from under the "File" menu in Pro Tools.
This will allow you to import audio, midi, Aux and video tracks into your new session. Jon Connolly Digidesign Product Specialist |

Re: HELP!!! Session won\'t open anymore.
Also may I add that if you are using 5.1.1 and up. If you set the prefs right, you will have a back-up session folder which may have the last back-up that will have your midi. Good Luck

Re: HELP!!! Session won\'t open anymore.
I forgot to mention. I'm still running PT under 5.0. Could that be a problem?

Re: HELP!!! Session won\'t open anymore.
Hi,
Problem solved. It turned out that there was a huge piece of corrupted audio getting in the way every time I tried to open the session. So I trashed it away and voila! Everything is back to normal now. Thank you all for the replies. Antonio. |
