bought ultra scsi card when I bought my G4 -- do I need to buy a different one?
I heard that that scsi cd burners need an adaptec 2930 scsi card or an atto card. When i bought my G4 this fall, I bought an ultra scsi card with it... But I don't know what kind of scsi card ships with a mac. anybody know if this card will work?

Re: bought ultra scsi card when I bought my G4 -- do I need to buy a different one?
I use an Orange Micro 930 Ultra SCSI card for both my sampler and Yamaha CD burner (on a G4). I haven't tried the one that ships as an option from Apple.
All that happens when using different SCSI devices is the SCSI bus slows down to match the slowest device on the bus. For most (if not all) SCSI burners, that's SCSI-2 speed. You shouldn't have any problems if you're using the latest firmware for the SCSI card. If you also are using an Ultra-SCSI hard drive, then it will slow down the access to that drive. THAT might (or might not) be a problem for you. ------------------ LW
