Higher Sample Rates, Digi Interfaces, and ADAT
I've got a session in 10 days time.Very important that it goes well. Client just came round to check out our gear.
We're going to be running at 88.2kHz. We have 2 ISA428s with the A/D card. He has another 428 that he's going to bring, and he'll use the 2nd bank of 4 channels for the A/D as well. Except we'll be running optical. Above 48kHz, the ADAT standard uses 4 channels per line than 8. The 428s have 2 outputs for this. I've just been reading that neihter of the DIGi interfaces will accept ADAT lightpipe above 48kHz. The manuals I downloaded have the PT7 style logo on the front, so I'm assuming they're up to date. I was going to get at least one 192 digital with ADAT cards to get me the 16 channels I needed. I'm going to be renting some kind of interface to cover the extra digital I/O. Should I get a 192 digital with EBU slots instead? Or do I get something else? TIA, Iain

Re: Higher Sample Rates, Digi Interfaces, and ADAT
That was more than a little garbled. It's been a stressfull week.
Anyways, what I want to know is, can i do sample rates above 48k, use digi interfaces, and ADAT lithpipe inputs? Iain

Re: Higher Sample Rates, Digi Interfaces, and ADAT
RME makes what I call a tri-directional format converter. It will convert whatever flavor of digital comes into it into TDIF, ADAT, and AES.

Re: Higher Sample Rates, Digi Interfaces, and ADAT
Can anyone at Digi comment on whether this will be implemented later on? Is it possible to do it with firmware? Or would it need to be a new interface?
TIA, Iain
