Default How much of a Mac for VVTR?

HD video only maybe. Are you folks all using the "Pro" VVTR or the "Regular"? Is a G4 a really bad idea? If a G5, does it need to be duo? Memory?

Unfortunately I have never had an opportunity to work on a project in HD, but I can say, that in a room I work G4/500SP plays QTs MJPEG A 768x576 at 25fps without any problem (VVTR regular under OS9) - instant scrub and park, lock time under half a second.
Perhaps you can use this info for comparison.
The benefit of using VVTR Pro is, that you can consolidate a video bin, so you have not to switch between reels - VVTR automatically jumps to the right reel by recognizing the incoming timecode.

All best
