MIDI with MPC, Nova, Controller??

Kind of a silly midi question, but it's got me puzzled. Here is what I am trying to do.

Connect the 001 midi in/out to the MPC 2000.
(that's the easy part)

Connect a controller and a nova synth to the MPC 2000, then to the 001.

The problem is midi on the MPC only has 2 in/out, and the 001 only has 1 in/out.
That leaves 2 ins, but 3 devices I am trying to record from.

I want to record midi into the 001 from the MPC, the nova, and use the controller to play the nova. make sense? Basically I want to hook up 2 midi devices to the MPC, and the MPC to the 001. lost in a world of midi

(on a side note, I tried getting a motu fastlane usb midi interface, with more in/outs but it just locks up protools like MAD)

pick up a Midiman Thru 3x8 - it has 3 MIDI ins and 8 MIDI outs and the outs can be assigned to read any of the 3 MIDI ins simultaneously - it's a godsend:

Uh...Answer could be an external USB or Firewire midi patchbay or interface. There may be other tricky ways to set yours up without having to purchase a patchbay. [img]images/icons/rolleyes.gif[/img]
