Default Apple Cloud/Mobile Me and Lion

We are supposed to move to The Cloud by midnight tonight.

I did my laptop because I don't use it for recording much at the moment. However, I have not moved to 10.7 on my studio computer because it is not compatible with PT9.

Is anyone else in the same boat, or what are you doing about it?

I'm not in the same boat because I am on Lion, but it's obvious that you're not going to be able to use iCloud on your PT system until you move up.

I suppose just sync your laptop with calendars, mail and contacts and you're PT system will just have to wait. As far as cloud storage, I'm using Box, but Dropbox is also popular. Like Mobile Me, they are about $100 a year with a little more storage and many more options.

Thanks audiobob. I have Box also but I just use it for sharing audio. Yeah I am doing that, leaving the studio computer alone. It's not a big deal I reckon 'cos the iPhone and laptop will suffice and it will discourage me from wanting to do other stuff on the music computer.

I must say....I see a pretty significant speed increase with Lion. I suppose it is due to some sort of optimization of files and stuff but for sure things are quicker. Even Safari loads faster....page to page etc. Glad about that. My little old 2.4 MBP C2D was beginning to really wheeze along.

Thanks buddy.

You bet...

Yeah, I'm liking Lion too..but in you're case you'd have to move to Pro Tools 10....and that's an expense you have to factor in. I'm really liking 10. You like Box too? Most everyone I deal with has Dropbox, but think I like the Box interface a bit better.

I hardly use Box....just to upload the occasional music file.

Yeah.......I have to go to 10. I know this. I'm still getting over being mad at Avid for charging $300 for PT 9, which was a marvelous upgrade, but then such a short while later coming out with another $300 upgrade to PT 10....and it's still not 64bit. That upgrade so close to the other really pissed me off. Damn....$600 in several months.

Watch....I'll finally buy 10 and 11 will come out 3 months later.

PT 9 and Lion are running smooth here!

I'm not sure where you guys are getting your info but PT 9.0.6 is compatible with 10.7.4 as stated in this technical alert http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=323449

I upgraded the studio to 10.7.4 and 9.0.6 last week and actually saw a slight boost in performance with PT.

i decided, instead of upgrading 4 macs to lion and buying 2 new iphones just to use icloud, to move to google instead. do not regret it. i can sync calendars and contacts through all my devices and i have 5 gig of space on google drive for free. i bounce mixes directly to the google drive folder and walk away. its brilliant actually.
