I've used Defaulter with it's RMS setting and it really doesn't work so well... levels were all over the place. It may work better on longer clips, but in my world, with editors' frankenbiting the crap out of dialog, it just wasn't useful. I really wish it worked better because it would be a huge time saver for getting clip levels to a nice starting point.

Yeah, I think it does what it says it does, and I can imagine workflows where it would be very useful, but even LUFS-based level measurements aren't gonna get things to where they *sound* equally loud. In the end, I think we end up having to use our ears... Main reason I don't find any kind of normalization particularly useful.

Ayyy brilliant, thanks for that one. Just been using it now, it's great. Cheers!

I agree, you can automate clip gain and volume.

Yep, the "Rubber Band" type clip gain is a GREAT feature and a HUGE workflow enhancer, amazing how many users have yet to discover it. I read a lot of moaning about AVID bringing new features to the table years after some of the other daws do but to me, this is another good example of how AVID have looked at, assessed and then improved on an already established feature... after all, Apple didn't invent the MP3 player, they just made a better more desirable one!

For mine, I'd rather wait for a fully optimised/enhanced feature than a half baked one rushed to market in the hope of accelerating sales.

Just my 2 cents
