Default Inherited HD3 PCIx cards and want to run on PC

What mobo and cpu can I use with these cards? Assuming Windows 7 as I have a license for PT 10HD(which I already own). I saw the thread above, but the most recent post is from 2012, so looking for more current recommendations. Guessing I can find older mobo and cpu on ebay. My alternative is an old G5 Mac, but that stalls me at PT 7.4HD(which I don't own), even though the cards will fit(cards are currently in a G5 that will not boot). Already have a Glyph firewire drive enclosure and 192's. Just trying to piece together a working system on a tight budget(already have case, PSU, graphics and drives). Just need a mobo that is compatible and can host the PCIx cards.

Wow...the silence is deafening Can anyone tell me if these PCIx cards will work in PCI slots with this motherboard?

Thanks for that! I see 4 PCI slots, but I know nothing about PCIx or if the cards will work on this mobo(although the old thread suggests they do)

Normal PCI and PCI-X should not make any difference regarding old HD cards.

PCIx Accel cards work in PCI slots. You can probably get it going if you can find all the necessary installers these days. The ilok drivers can be a pain to find the appropriate ones. I've recently moved on to HDx, but I used a PCIx HD6 Accel rig in a PCIe chassis up until a year ago. I still have the old HD6 system as a backup.

I'm sure I have a bunch of the old installers on a hard drive. Let me know, and I can fire it up and email you files if needed. I also have a Pro Tools HD 7.4 license we could work out, if you decide to go that route.

One of the issues I remember about building windows HD Accel rigs are fitting the cards in. I remember having to dremel out a part of a heatsink fan to fit the card in in an older ASUS MB. Not sure if you'd have to do any of that type of surgery to the JetWay MB.

Thanks for that. At the moment, I have secured another G5, which will accept the 3 cards(they came out of a G5 that refuses to boot). According to my research, I can run Leopard and PT 8HD on it and that's my goal for now. I have a friend that has(had) the Leopard install disk and an old iLok with 8HD and he'll give me a super deal if he can find it all. If he comes up empty, I'll PM you to chat about other options. Meanwhile, let me know if you have the 8HD install file for Mac as that might be the next hurdle

Jetway NAF93-Q77 ATX "Ivy Bridge" Motherboard
I'm just finishing up an HD3 build on that motherboard now. I've personally been running Pro Tools (vanilla/non-HD) on this mobo for years using RME interface cards. The key for audio applications is that a motherboard includes pci slots that are natively supported (as opposed to bridged to pci-e). This Jetway mobo is well known by both windows AND hackintosh builders as being the last/best option for native pci support.

Thanks for that info. I'm hoping to get things going with PT8 HD to keep costs down(got a working G5). If that fails, I'll go looking for a 10 HD license

i had a jetway socket 1155 mobo once with "native" pci slots and that performed way worse than a fujitsu 1150 mobo with bridged (plx pcie to pci) slots.

magma pci extension solutions all use bridges themselves and that's how many people use the hd cards!

i would say rather than building a pc around old pci cards just hunt for a magma expansion chassis.. and just install a pcie card in your existing machine...

magmas are made so that long full size pci cards always fit and get proper ventillation!
