PT 2023.6 & Eucon 2023.6 Work Perfectly Natively, but no connection under Rosetta

Hi all,

Long story short, been using an S3+Dock with Pro Tools / Eucon and everything works perfectly running natively.

Problem is, I just bought Altiverb for an upcoming project and did not realize that it is not yet Apple Silicon compatible (somehow).

Audioease support suggests running PT in Rosetta mode but when I do that, the Eucon <-> PT connection is broken so the control surfaces don't work. The surfaces show up in Eucon and are an added under 'My Surfaces'. But in PT, the Eucon indicator light is off.

Is there a Rosetta trick to making this work? Or did I just waste a ton of money on Altiverb?

You have to enable Eucon the old way under Rosetta.

Setup > Peripherals, and click the Ethernet Controllers tab.

And yes, you just wasted a ton of money on Altiverb.

Ouch, why so harsh on Altiverb? Jeez.

Ok, so just checked Peripherals -> Ethernet Controllers and EUCON Control Surfaces is checked.

I've attached some screen shots of the various EUCON application settings.

I think the culprit is in the System Settings of Mac OSX. It's showing Network Interface: Thunderbolt Ethernet but the Launch Status is "N/A".

Again, if I boot PT natively, the S3 and Dock are rock solid. Any ideas folks?

Are you using it with Pro Tools or not? That last picture shows you using it as a MIDI/Mackie device with Ableton, etc. That would make it unavailable for Pro Tools.
The system preferences > Eucon is only for Mackie/MIDI emulation.
"Eucon" programs are only done from the Eucontrol app itself on the Applications tab. (I would check if Pro Tools is added there and if it is, remove it and re-add it.)

Hey thanks for trying to help. Yes, I'm using with Pro Tools with the S3 & Dock. But also Ableton and Logic. When I'm running PT Natively (not Rosetta), the way it works is whatever app is focused in Mac OSX, the S3/Dock switches to that app. I love that functionality and it works really well.

See new screen cap attached to show that PT is the focused app in the EUCON app. So the issue remains on my system, S3/Dock work perfectly everywhere (Pro Tools Native, Logic, Ableton). But for some reason, running PT under Rosetta, PT and EUCON can't find each other it seems.

You might want to try a clean uninstall and then an install again. (Clean uninstall is done by running the Eucontrol installer and checking the uninstall option, reboot after that, then reinstall running the Artist/Dock/S3/S1 option from the installer)

Ok, so further testing here...in both System Settings and the EUCON app I checked off 'Enable as External Workstation' and partial functionality came back.

The S3 an Dock see Pro tools now, status light comes on, but I have no meters on the surface working and the motorized faders do not work. I can record automation. But they do not play back the automation on the desk. No meters on the desk and the lights for the various button states (like automation) do not work.

Clearly this is not the way, but why does enabling this 'sort of' work?
