Default ProTools 6.9 LE Mac OS Tiger Problems

Hello everybody,

I updated to ProTools 6.9 LE last week and then immediately, I could not do ANYTHING (not even start the program) under Mac OS 10.3.9. So I just went and bought the new Mac Tiger OS and now the program starts ok but I cannot start new session or open existing session, as I keep getting the error message "Session must be on an audio record volume." No matter where I try to save, (internal HD, external firewire hard drives, etc.) it will not let me do anything. This was not a problem before! Please help! Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!

Ray

Go back to 10.3.8, it's the last supported OS release for PT 6.9. Or, forget using ProTools for the next 2 months until Digi comes out with their Tiger patch.

OK. I wouldn't take a chance to run Pro Tools 6.9 on tiger though it may work.
But your broblem is not a tiger either 10.3.9. I run it on 10.3.9 just perfectlly.
If you want to solve the problem go through those steps.
1. Rename the hard drive giving it another name (any name). Try to open the session now?
if it works then trash all the prefferences of Pro Tools - user/library/preferences and then: pro tools 6.9 preferenses, digidesign preferences, DAE preferences. Now you can rename your hard disk back and Pro Tools should work fine. But if it didn't work out you should do the next thing:
1. Uninstall Pro Tools 6.9 by running uninstall from the PT CD.
2. Delete the folder called Digidesign from Application.
3. Delete the folder Digidesign from library/application support
4 Delete all the preferences I wrote above.
5. Restart
6. Istall Pro Tools. It should work now.

.....and if it's not I had a case of viewing person reinstalling the operating system. Sometimes it's installed it runs well exept PT. Hope this will not address to you though reinstalling is taking 10 min for Panther if you know what you are doing.
Hope it will help for the Tiger. I am sure it MUST help for Panther.

Please let me know if you experience any problems running PT on Tiger. Does it work at all?
Cheers

I'd start by trashing the preferences and the Digidesign Databases.

In PT, go to Windows, select Workspace. Check that there's a letter 'R' under the column 'A' for your HD. If it's not, click on the whatever letter is displayed and choose 'Record'.

R.

It doesn't work at all and I can assure everyone it is a waste of time to attempt it until Digi releases a patch for 6.9 to work. I tried it myself and PT will open but you can't set a volume for record or playback and there is no way around it.
