This means I have to invest heavily into a new console if I want to change my MacPro into a new M(x)-silicon enabled MAC computer ! I'm sorry but don't have that 60K investment lay-ing around these days to make a switch to S4 or even S6 :-(

What makes it even worse is that WINDOWS computers will still be able to use the Control surface (until AVID breaks that connection offcourse) and recieve updates.

Do I have to switch to Windows again ? MAC has brought me so much joy ;-)

Although I understand the switch to Silicon Native. AVID will lose a big part of there clients who still use a Command/ICON control surface.

I do urge AVID to consider updating there strategy and transfer the Command/icon interface into the new Native system.

PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE
I have the same concern with my C|24. I hoping Neyrinck might be the answer when that time comes.

I'm not installing this. Yet.
My current setup is 100% solid for what I need.
The single one thing I could be curious about is the added performance w/native, but even that I expect not to be very significant.

Couple of things I wonder about:

1. How are you approaching this?
Are you installing right on top of your current version, doing the rename old version trick to keep both, or installing on a separate system?

2. About co-existing versions of PT. How are prefs and other files handled? Seamlessly, or what? What about PT rosetta vs native, settings and 'background' files are shared or what?
I guess Pete Gates, maker of PT Prefs 2 app, will be looking into this soon enough.

sorry I missed this as running a blank test session, vintage verb is the only one that doesn't appear (does not even appear on plug list) , will mail them thanks

2022.12 is a Universal Binary. You just toggle the "Run under Rosetta" check in the apps Get Into in the Finder. It is one app.

I understand this.
Perhaps read my post again?
Thanks for trying, though.

Perhaps you were referring to PT 2022.10 and 2022.12 but your initial question inferred you were talking about the native vs. the Intel variants of PT 2022.12.

This in your original post is ambiguous.
"1. How are you approaching this?

I've had the same issue. I updated and ran Pro Tools in Native, and most of my plugins in this test setup didn't run on the Native version. Run's fine in Rosseta though.

Just forget it. I think most people are aware what a 'universal binary' is. That question was more about the fact that this is a 'public beta'. See the release notes for the list of what is NOT working in 22.12.

I'm doing the renaming thing and running both on the same system, as I've done for almost every update for years.

Not sure how pref's are being handled under the hood, but things seem to be in place for both the native and rosetta versions.
