2023.6 Pro Tools Ultimate with Dolby Renderer 5 bounce error
Hi
I'm bouncing a 38 min session, 65 objects, 4 beds, not all used but in the bounce dialogue I have 'Create Master File' I/O ticked. It's saying insufficient memory, which can't be true because I have 600GB+ and no matter what I delete it always says I'm short by 7GB. I've split the bouncing of the session in 2 parts and that seems to work. Total size of those parts is only 23GB+8GB Can anyone advise me please? |

Re: 2023.6 Pro Tools Ultimate with Dolby Renderer 5 bounce error
"Memory" is not the same as disk space. The word Memory usually refers to RAM in computer-speak.
Also, usually the Dolby Atmos Renderer will not allow the rendering of Object paths that are not actually used in the session. I'm unclear as to what exactly you're doing, let alone the computer equipment you're using. You'll probably find that you'll get more help from people in this forum by included the "help us help you" system basics that Darryl frequently points out to those needing help. Re: 2023.6 Pro Tools Ultimate with Dolby Renderer 5 bounce error
Would sure help if you provided the info Tweakhead is talking about. :)
If something says the computer is running out of memory it likely is. What *exact* error are you getting… copy and paste the message text or post a screenshot. And anytime it looks like you are running out of memory a good suspect are plugins with memory leaks. But we have no idea if you have a lot of memory in your Mac, or if it's under-configured to start with. You would often end up moving .aaxplugin files out of the plugin directory trying to locate any bad plugins. And plugins don't need to even be used to cause problems. But the first thing to look at is the "memory pressure" chart in macOS Activity Monitor > Memory. Memory Pressure chart at the bottom of that page. This is all that you need to know to start with. If it does not settle down to all green then you have problems. "free memory" is likely not what you think it is and is not useful info. Last edited by Darryl Ramm; 10-20-2023 at 05:08 PM. |

Re: 2023.6 Pro Tools Ultimate with Dolby Renderer 5 bounce error
Hi - sorry yes I used the wrong words. After a long day at the computer all week it sometimes happens to me.
By memory I meant storage space. I have 600gb free on my Mac HD. I’m bouncing a Dolby Atmos session that’s 38mins long. There are many tracks and objects being used. I’m not in front of my computer, but when I hit bounce it says something like, there is insufficient disk space, I need 7gb more. When I bounced the session in 2 parts it works. The computer spec and software versions were given on my last message: Pro Tools Ultimate 2023.6 and Dolby Renderer v5.1, Mac Studio M1 Max running Monterey 12.4. 32gb ram and 600gb storage space. Thanks again for your suggestions - Do you think plugins could be at fault? |

Actual error message: "Could not complete the Bounce Mix command because there is insufficient space on "Macintosh HD". An additional 18.9 GB is needed"
Cheers! |

Re: 2023.6 Pro Tools Ultimate with Dolby Renderer 5 bounce error
Are you making a selection for your bounce or are you bouncing the whole session without a selection? If it’s the latter then it’s going to think you want to bounce the entire session length which would most likely be huge.

I’m making a selection - 38 mins.
I will ‘save a copy’ with unused audio pruned, and if that doesn’t work then import session data into a blank session. Any other suggestions welcomed |

how about posting us a screenshot of your Bounce dialog box prior to the error being presented.
Can you actually play the complete session (timeline selection) without error, and therefore record the mix directly into the Dolby Atmos Renderer? |

Thanks - attached! (offline bounce - and recording to the renderer is not a viable workflow for this project although the session does play through with no errors)

Where are you saving this bounce? Have you tried another drive?
