Pencil tool/zooming issue

I've done this countless times without any hassles, what gives?
I'm zooming into a waveform as far as it can go and my pencil tool still won't activate. I know it needs to be at sample level but the zooming itself seems to stop a bit before that stage, it doesn't seem to zoom in as much as it once did. Any ideas?

If these were files imported from OMF that's by design... consolidate the area around where you want to use the Pencil Tool... which I recommend anyway since the Pencil Tool is destructive.

These are not OMF files. They are the AIFF format dialog tracks for a short film I'm scoring and doing sound design for. There are a a few clipping instances which I was hoping to at least try to alleviate with some sample redraws.

I had that problem once about 2 weeks ago. I just restarted Pro Tools and it sorted it. Maybe another teething problem in pt 7?

I wish that was the answer, but I'm still on 6.4.
I've never experienced this in my 4 years using ProTools.
