Default M-Powered Maxes out CPU

The RTAS engine in MP9 maxes out the CPU within minutes of loading EVEN WITH MINIMAL PLUG-INS!!!!!. I've tryed trashing the preferences but with no success.

Any possible suggestions to solving this problem?

I assume you've got your play back engine a maybe up a bit? Go to Set-Up, playback engine. Might be something there to look at.

Pro Tools wants a fast and powerful processor. Without that, things can be tough. I know; mine is underpowered. I recommend (1) Go to avid.com and find their list of optimizations for PC. Do them all. Each one has step by step instructions. (2) Use an external hard drive for all your Pro Tools files (and nothing else). Specs and recommendations are at avid.com. (3) Choose Windows Classic theme by (a) clicking start and control panel, (b) click the "personalization" icon, (c) in the "Basic and High Contrast Themes" section, choose "Windows Classic." Doing this disables the active desktop in Windows and frees up some resources. (4) As stated in a previous post, go to "Setup," "Playback Engine." Make sure your H/W buffer size is set to at least 512 samples, or even 1024 samples if necessary. This will increase your latency while recording, but will help your processor. I hope these things help.
