I just purchased Eleven LE and installed it today. I love what it does, but it eats up 50% of my CPU when used as a plugin on an audio track!!
Is this how its suppose to work?? I want to be able to have about 4 tracks (2 panned left, 2 panned right) that each go through Eleven... but there is no way this can happen with the amount of CPU it wants to use.. So, is there something im doing wrong??? I have a 2.8G processor, 2G RAM. RTAS Processors = 2 (hyperthreading) Thanks, Allen |

Nope. Eleven is a cpu beast. It's got arguably the best sound quality of any Amp Sim out there and very flexible sounds at the cost of very high cpu cycles and eats up your cpu, it's basically more than a few plug-ins all combined into 1 GUI, with the amp section, mic section, amp breakup all independently doing their processing. Eleven is cool like that because you can break up those section, thus turning certain sections off or combining them in different orders with more than 1 instance of the plug-in. But yes, this all boils down to heavy cpu destruction. You really need at least a core 2 duo processor if not an Xeon to use more than 1 of these.
I tested on my Pentium D Processor and I was able to get 3 instances reliably at 128 HW, while on my Mac Pro 2.66ghz I could get 6-7 with default settings at 64 HW Buffer, 7-8 if I cranked up most the playback engine settings. You'll need to print some of your tracks or buss more than 1 track to the same instance. You could add FXs, such as EQ works really well to make 1 track sound a bit different than the other. Download the last DigiZine from Digi's site, with the Flight of the Conchords on it, they have a section dedicated to tricks with Eleven and some of those tricks worked wonders for my mixes.

Yep; as Premo said, any amp sim is going to be a CPU hog. It's the nature of the beast.
I've got a favorite method I use that I turned into a fairly easy to follow tutorial on my website, if you're interested.

The best way around it is to record a separate track that already includes the Eleven sounds. That way you have what you want without using a plugin. You can then inactivate the original track and remove the plugin.
