No Audio On Playback When A Region Is Selected

Has anyone run into this problem? We are currently having an issue...whenever a region is selected in the edit window there is no audio during playback. Any ideas where to start with this problem? We have already tried trashing preferences and the digidesign database.

Are the regions that are not selected playing ok?
do you mean that any region that is selected and "turned black as selected" does not play and give out sound! and if you un-select it then it does play ok??

Hey Chris,

The problem is that when any region is selected (highlighted) none of the regions whether selected or not allow audio to pass. As long as no regions are selected, playback on all tracks occurs. All functions in the edit window appear to be working correctly except there is no audio output.

Is this with just one session or on all?

This is quite bizarre! if its on one session i would try this...

"save session copy in" this will create a new copy of your session! select the option to include all audio, and save to your audio drive (if you have 2 drives in your computer! try the other one from the drive this session is currently on) now you should have a copy of this session!! close PT and re-boot pt and load the new copied session. this should help illiminate any session curruption!

Another thing to do...

Un-install PT using your CD installer or web installer, select custom install and select un-install, there's an option of save un-install(i think this is what its called,or similar) there's is also clean un-install(clean un-install removes everything to start again!!) so select safe un-install and then using your CD installer, re-install the program.

If you still have the problem? then list your entire setup details here...

mac os? mac model and size? ram? pt version plus cs updates? session sample and bit rate? any details about the session etc.
