Fast Track Ultra Question
The New M-Audio Fast Track Ultra that can record 8 tracks at time...is it compatible with Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1?
I just found out M-Audio has discontinued the 1814 so I am also wondering how the new Fast Track Ultra compares? USB 2.0 Vs. Firewire. I read the Firewire is 200 bps and the USB 2.0 is 480 but firewire is more of a "sustainable" signal... Meaning what? I am coming from a FW 410 so I don't want to downgrade to a lesser signal quality. I always thought firewire was better than any USB. What does anyone think? I really want to record 8 tracks at a time. That would be awesome since i can only do 2 now!!! Thanks. |

Hi, well I have the same doubts but what I have found is that Firewire has a bandwith of 400 in a continous data transfer and USB 2 has 480 (more bandwidth) but in an non continous transfer. Somehow it seems they found tha way to preserve de contiunous caracter os audio recording with a non continous device. I wonder how latency is handled with the Fast Track Ultra and and wich buffer sizes are used. I can never record with more than 256 samples of latency. While mixing I have no problem putting 512 or even 1024 in the buffer size.
I am appealed by the 4 pre`s because of the octane technology. |
