Surround Panner-Joysticks with ICON

Hi, Is there a joystick panner option available for ICON? What are people here using for surround panning automation?

It's coming .. April is what I've been told. Seen picture ... combo sticks + touch screen. Looks cool.

Yeah, I think the touch screen thing is kind of an afterthought .. (how could you control 2 panners w/ 1 touch screen?!!), but it'll be good to AT LEAST have 2 sticks on the D-Control.

That being said, We'll be getting DFC's this summer. Although I still think that eventually D-Control/ICON will be the hottest thing going.

Glad to hear they are replacing your SSL's with at least a fully automated console. I understand WB's choice to make ALL the consoles the same. It's just a shame you of all people couldn't get an ICON. You would just FLY on that!!!

Hey there Marti,
We had an ICON in for a 2 week evaluation. I think it's great and in time, (when rounting can be automated and plug in mapping gets it's act together) it will be the bomb. In the meantime, the DFC's are coming. However, I did do a temp on Oceans' 12 w/ Larry Blake this summer (ProControl) and it was a blast. It was kind of funny to see a ProControl spread out on top of the DFC in Dub 6, but it worked quite well.

WB IS interested in putting together an ICON room as well as some ProControl rooms. We see the writing on the wall too. But believe me, being the lone ProTools advocate there (until recently) has been a tough road. I think management has finally seen the light.
