Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let you know we're following this thread with interest, and we're always open to making improvements. Here's a related question... Would this same Stage 2 = 49...96 approach also carry over to Pro Tools, when you're using the HDx interface cards to record? Currently, within Pro Tools the cards announce themselves as HDx1 y and HDx2 y, where y is the channel number 1 through 48. Should this also change to be HDx1 (1-48) and HDx2 (49-96)? Sheldon |

If the naming scheme in protools followed the 49-96 method proposed here, would it still need to be designated HDx1 49...96? Or, for readability sake (dare I say, intelligibility), could it just read out HDx 49...96 and lose the 1 or 2 designation. I know, personally, the way our rig is setup, the monitor can be far away sometimes, and numbers just begin to mesh together. Since the racks are known to be 1-48 and 49-96 the extra 1 or 2 doesn't seem necessary...
Just a thought... As for my thoughts on the overall concept, would this be an option that can be turned on or off? Our system has two main snakes, one a 48-channel and one a 32-channel. So having to differentiate between Stage1 and Stage2 is something we have to do anyways. Since both our snakes start at 1, we wouldn't want Stage2 to start at 49... I love the idea. And I think overall it could be a good change. I'd just like to see a little radio button in the options pane letting me pick which view setting I'd like. |

Absolutely... UNLESS... And maybe this doesn't make sense, but should there be consideration for naming HDx2 Assignables 17-32? It doesn't feel as 'called for' as the renaming of the stage rack inputs, but seems like it would work...
Perhaps it's just my analog mind just trying to feel at home with my digital mind. |

I would like to take this a step further and apply it to the output cards as well. I have a mix rack with the XLR outputs in the 1st slot, and an Aviom card in the second slot. We have to do some translating in order to get the numbers in the right place for the guys on the stage. One of my volunteers managed to re-assign a channels direct output to one of my main outputs on the XLR's because he was only paying attention to the number. I know that is says A-net outputs in the patch, but he was in a hurry. |

This is a great discussion and i totally agree that we also could do with the opposite preferences for the outputs too - since it would be nice if aviom cards had independant numbering.
Perhaps the best UI application for this would be a drop down menu that appears when you click on the name of the card - like with an aviom card. you'd only need two options: Numbering - Independant or Continuous. |

Any developments on this? I use a Venue D-Show with 96 inputs and I'd really like for Stage Rack 2 to show 49 - 96 in the Patch Bay window instead of 1-48.

Patch Bay View shows Stage Rack 2 1-48. It would be nice to have it show 49-96 ![]() http://tinypic.com/r/2zfs7zk/6 The Systems Tab in Options View even shows Stage 2 49-96. Why can't the Patch Bay view? ![]() http://tinypic.com/r/ilgjl2/6
