Hi, I'm having huge problems getting my Tascam DM4800 connected to Protools10 with Firewire to my iMac. USB works, no audio. Too complicated for me 🥶

Hi Welcome to DUC.

Jasmire has not posted here in a decade. Maybe he is still around, but I'd not hold my breath.

No audio on a DM4800, the obvious questions would be can you find a FireWire driver from TASCAM compatible with your iMac and macOS version.

AFAIK, there is no driver needed for USB/HUI but you need one for FireWire Audio.

There is nothing really Pro Tools related to getting that working, at least to start with.

Do you have an Intel iMac? Yes I see in your profile you do! Yey -- so that is now at least possible, as long as your macOS version has a driver that will work on it.

Have you installed a suitable driver? Compatible with your OSX 10.7.5 version? 10.7.5 really? You are still running OSX Lion... maybe you can find a driver?

Does the DM4800 show up on Audio MIDI Setup?

Does it work with simple audio apps? e.g. for a start can you play Apple Music though it?

Thank you very much. I got the entire setup working again, finally. Except the DAW Control on my iPad through WIFI. In the old days though, it worked, now I can't get it to work.
Can anyone please explain how to do it?
I have Protools10 on OSX Lion and an iPad Air (2024).
