Default Pro Tools First Bounce Source & Playback Issues?

Hey there!

I am an actor who is newly imbarking into the professional world of voice over. I am seemingly having some common problems but the answers I am finding in the Pro Tools First articles and online are still unable to help me solve them.

Protools First is playing back my audio when I am plugged into my interface and my headphones as well as monitor are on/in. But when I unplug those items and want to listen to the audio from the recordings without headphones I can't hear it at all! Meaning when I just want to play it out loud over my laptop. Also plugging in random headphones does not work I am referring to the ones in the interface. Yet

Also I can't seem to locate a way to apply a "bounce source" - how do I do that? It is not showing up anywhere. Its not one of the options that pops up on the little screen when I also to Bounce the mix at all! (As I was told by various sources it should!)

Thank you so much!
I have Protools First 2021.3.0, and am using a MacOS Catalina 10.15.7.

Default Re: Pro Tools First Bounce Source & Playback Issues?

Your interface must handle all the IO(inputs and outputs). To hear audio without headphones connected to your interface, connect powered studio monitors to your interface's main outputs. To hear from the Mac's speakers, you need to change the "audio engine" to Core audio(which will cause the interface to no longer act as IO). Buying some powered monitors is something that you will need anyway

The question on Bounce Source is confusing to me(but I do not use PT First, which may be different). My first recommendation is to buy the regular Pro Tools(not "Ultimate", which you don't need). This is because of how severely limited PT First is. Beyond that recommendation, search for tutorials on how to accomplish whatever it is you are trying to do. Its very likely that the Bounce Source is set for your main outputs by default(which is usually what you want).
