Default Move audio clip from one track to another

Hello,
I'm trying to move some audio clips from one track to another but they are only able to be moved to some tracks and not others. Additionally, if I try to opt - click and drag a track down it won't move down. It just moves horizontally. I've tried right-clicking and copying and pasting but it doesn't work with some. Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening. Thanks in advance.

That's one of the few things I like better in Logic Pro, the ability to switch a track from mono to stereo or vice versa. Channel configuration seems to be written in stone in Pro Tools, but it would be nice to have an option to automatically convert a mono file to stereo left/right when dragging from a mono track to a stereo track, or to automatically create a second, adjacent mono track (both hard panned) when dragging from stereo to mono. I could even live with a warning dialogue.

Someone brought this up in a different thread the other day, and at first I thought 'huh, why would you ever want to do that?' but then I realized how often I print time based fx, and then it sort of made sense.

It's not a solution to this problem but it is a workaround.

If you drag the audio clip in question from the Clips List to the gray area below the tracks, Pro Tools will automatically create a new track that is the width of the audio file.

See the image....

Potentially useful, thanks!
