Default Bursts of noise - need help

I'm getting a problem where there is sudden bursts of digital garbage (mostly sounds like white noise) that's full scale and completely intermittent, on different channels of different tracks at different times.

I've done a bit of research on my PC - and the hardware looks ok. I've reset the BIOS to default settings, installed the latest nVidia driver and turned off the "write combining".

Any ideas?

Below is the PC Wizard hardware analysis output:

Hmmm. I also am getting bursts of white noise. It is hard to diagnose ( check my 'white noise and the 9073' thread for things I have tried ). The only thing we have in common is the realtek network drivers. Try removing them.

Neither of you mentioned what version you were using and I forget what version this was common in. (maybe 7.1?) Have you tried updating to the latest free update for your ver? (maybe 7.4?) It was repaired.

Sorry to hijack ( like I said my thread is 'white noise and the 9073' ) and my version is 8.0.3. Also in 8.0.

Check my thread for what I have done ( which is almost everything )

I am at the moment installing a new drive and reinstalling my whole system.

This does suck btw

I get them in 8.0, 8.0.1 and 8.0.3.

I've just updated my BIOS to ensure that there was nothing going on there, but first test gave noise in the recording.

Hi Matt

I am going throught this at the moment as well. Be advised that a working set up can go south for no real reason - in other words , like me - a pc that you have used in the same config for months/years can get this prob so do not rule out anything and be prepared for a lot of troubleshooting.

Looking at your pc report again and from the research I have done -

- Digi has confirmed there can be problems with AHCI drives so be advised

- Digi has confirmed that creating a partition with any software that does not return the drive to a raw state before partitioning will cause these errors.

Apart from this it is up to us to find a solution.

Have you tried playing the sessions from another internal drive ?
make sure you use 'save copy in' and select audio files. It has worked for others.

Have you ( dare I say it ! ) followed the general troubleshooting thread ?

good luck

Unhappy Re: Bursts of noise - need help

I am experiencing the white noise, or static only on my Mac BookPro.
I have moved my Mbox2 to a powered hub, and directly to the onboard USB port and it still gives me static.
My Mac Pro running Snow Leopard running PT 8.0.3pr does not have these issues, but I did not install core audio on my desktop.
Could this be an issue with the CoreAudio driver?

I'm downloading PT 8.0.1cs1 in hopes it fixes the problem, but I think I may need to uninstall, and reinstall without the CoreAudio drivers.

There are many, many causes of white noise a vast majority of which are configuration problems. This thread covers just about all of them (yes, it's a lot of reading, but consider it an education in possible causes and solutions):
