Default monitor balance off?

I keep losing left monitor volume, what could it be? It doesn't do it all the time

The first and easiest thing to check is cables/plugs. I have a cable that doesn't lock into the speaker socket properly and has to be regularly pushed in. Check plug 'snaps' into position.

Swap the Left/right cables and see if the other speaker behaves poorly. If it does, it's a cable problem & if it doesn't it's most likely the speaker (dry solder joint maybe).
