Default Re: M4 Mac Issues

There is an issue with iLoc, M4 processor based Macs and Sequoia in some DAWs. I am experiencing Universal Audio native plugin loading failure issues in UA’s own Luna DAW. This issue has been confirmed to be an issue related to Luna, iLoc, M4 processor based Macs, Sequoia and UA’s native plugin interaction which are protected using iLoc. Hopefully, these M4 Mac growing pains will be resolved soon!

...and Sonnex (see above), and perhaps some other companies, too.

On their website, Sonnox says their issue pertaining to the M4 is because of ilok. They're waiting on a patch from them to implement into their plugins. Fix possibly by late February.

The good news is that there are enough issues that a number of companies will be looking for the cause(s) of the various M4/software issues so the chance that someone will quickly identify and develop corrections is great. It’s always risky to be a computer and software technology pioneer…especially when one’s application is audio recording!

Hopefully now that we know that a number of companies are experiencing similar issues with M4 Macs, iLoc and Sequoia, there will be a substantial effort put forth to get these issues resolved. In our case, the only issues we are experiencing are related to Luna and UA’s own UADx native plugins which require iLoc. UA’s DSP plugins, which do not utilize iLoc protection, are not affected. None of the other DAWs and plugins we use are experiencing any issues. So, my hope is UA and iLoc solve their issues quickly.

Why does an M4 chip have to have issues vs previous gens? It's the same frickin' architecture!?

Sigh, two steps forward, two steps back.

Before I read this thread, I've been using a Mac Mini M4 24gb 512 with the latest Pro Tools. I've been running Sonnox EQ, Dynamics and Limiter daily without issues over the last 3 weeks.

I have a couple more of their plugins, but don't use them regularly.

I'm running native. Also this is a standard M4 chip and not the Pro.
