I think I saw someone else mention this but I can't find it now.
Playlist selection from the track dropdown has a new behaviour - selecting a playlist brings that selection to the top of the menu rather than the 'tick' selector just moving up and down the list. Right? It rearranges the list. This is doing my head in. If I'm going through playlists I want the alternatives which are previous and next takes to be next to the selected one in the list. Not have to look at the name/number and figure out where in the list I need to move to in order to find it... I'm looking for a preference for this but I haven't found it. Please tell me I'm just missing how to revert this behaviour? (I know I can scroll through with key commands etc, but I often still use the list view for various reasons) |

Have you already tried trashing the prefs to see if the same issue happens?

Latest PT 2024.10, freshly installed. Mac OS 14.7 I don't think it's a bug or an anomaly in my system (unless anyone can confirm theirs works differently?) - it seems to be a change in the way the playlist dropdown menu works, by design. I daresay I can get used to it, but it seems unnecessary to have changed it. If I select a playlist I like to be able to see at a glance whereabouts it was in the grand scheme of all the takes that were done, etc.. Now anything I have selected is simply at the top of the list and out of sequence with its brethren takes. I'm scratching my head as to the benefit and if I could switch it back I would. Can I? Seems not.. I was doing some track comping and suddenly realised that opening the drop menu meant that I couldn't see quickly if the take I was looking at was an early one or a later one, where it was in relation to that one two or three takes ago that had something I liked.. I have to check the numbers and look at where it's place is in the list. Counter-intuitive, to me. Just me? |

Same here with last version. Pretty frustrating when you are really used to how it worked before haha

It doesn't matter which one you have soloed. Maybe that's why this other new behaviour has changed, because when you select another playlist, it needs to move to the main playlist or it won't be the one that is heard in the bounce. Overall it's a weird change, and not sure why it was made. I agree, it would be great to have the previous way it worked instead, or at least a preference. |

This isn't the first time the ordering of playlists has been changed. Where are we on the feature requests to have control over that? Newest to Oldest, Alphabetical, etc...
This and the "Audition" change make it clear they are intending playlists to be a comping feature. Which still seems very clunky to me. Playlists to me mean having different EDL's on the same track. Not just having one master that stays on top with various unused takes below.

This hit me a time or two as well. What really helps me is, I name my original track(before any additional playlist tracking) to the name of the track with the suffix .01(as in LdVox.01 or Bass DI.01). That way, each successive recording pass to a new playlist will automatically renumber(.01, .03, .04, etc) so I can at least see which take is which in case they get re-ordered.
