Getting the most bizarre MIDI behavior when running multiple instances of EastWest Opus (4 instances, with as many as 16 MIDI channels each...yes, it's a lot). Mac M2 max. Still setting things up, and here's what I'm getting:
I load up the whole orchestra (plenty of RAM to spare in the computer). Each instrument has its own MIDI track, appropriately-routed. I step through each channel and play a couple of notes, confirming they're sounding. Channel 1, OK. 2: OK. 3: OK...And then, at some point, I'll record-enable a MIDI channel, play a note, and see that a few OTHER MIDI input channels are receiving input, too...And they're not even in input? Never the same channels twice, sometimes they include channels for an instrument other than the one I'm addressing, and nothing seems to be able to clear it. it's clearly Pro Tools based (as opposed to Opus), which I say with the confidence of someone who's been running Pro Tools since the mid '90s and knows how lacking the MIDI implementation has always been. Anyone having similar weirdness and / or workarounds for general MIDI trouble like this? I haven't asked around for a while. |

Following up to note: I see my same problem noted in another thread. Noting that I'm not using instruments in chain mode, and I'm running a fresh install of PT 2024 10.2 on Sequoia 15.2.

I'm absolutely also seeing this!
Reported this yesterday as case Rogue signal on inactive (MIDI) tracks [Case : 04920033] Inactive MIDI tracks are displaying signal / look as if they're playing something, while this isn't the case (moreover, they're inactive). Very weird things happening still in the AVID MIDI engine! ![]() |

Could you link to this 'other thread' here, so we can follow that one as well?

I wonder if this is a Mac problem because I have Opus with EW and have often done similar set-ups as described in the OP and have never seen this issue on my Windows system. Like you I have plenty of CPU and RAM.

And also acknowledging that it wasn't the best way to make my first post here in 10+ years have an air of disparagement of PT within it. |
