I always have to start and quit PT at least once and sometimes more to get the menu bar to show up. Weird one.

If this is the same issue that I and others have seen in the past you can normally get the menu bar to appear by clicking on the desktop and then back on the Pro Tools icon in the dock. No need to restart Pro Tools--which will do the same thing again, I suspect the reason it does not may be you have some lucky mouse clicks going on.
I think this may be related to spaces settings, check that "Displays have separate Spaces" is enabled in Systems Settings. You might find past discussions on DUC with Googles search with the site:duc.avid.com qualifier. |

Ha! I have had this with previous, recent-ish versions of PT and Mac OS, but not with PT 2024.10.2 (or 24.10.1, I think) and Mac OS 14.7.2 (or 14.7.1, I think).
Less confusing version - no, not for me, and if it's still happening it's not just that combo :)

Cntrl-esc key-command is useful if you get stuck with full screen - if that's the case.

I am having the same issue- I could restart and make it show up upon restarting in OS 14.7.2 but after querying people and checking with Avid PT2024 is supposed to be compliant with 15.2 which I installed but the menu bar is GONE. Nothing I do will bring it back so I can't Save As or any other Menu Bar specific actions. Please Help!

I am having the same issue in Mac OS 15.2 and PT 2024.10.2. The menu bar simply disappears and I have to continually restart and pray while clicking on the startup screen and hoping the Menu Bar shows up. I have no other monitor and I'm on a MacBook Pro 2019. Currently in the middle of 3 projects and dead in the water.

I have moved to OS 15.2 and the problem has become much much worse. Before 1 or 2 restarts or an app restart would fix it- now I have to continually restart my Mac and pray. No rhyme or reason when it shows up. I looked everywhere for the Display Spaces pref in Control Center and couldn't find it. What is the exact path to that pref?

Upgrading stuff is probably unlikely to fix this since most users running across lots of different combos of Pro tools and macOS are not seeing this issue. And nobody else has reported updating anything clearly fixes the issue.
What else have you tried? You say the Pro Tools menu bar disappears... so that means you had the menu bar appear and then disappear? Or it never appears when you launch Pro Tools. Be very clear what exactly you see on the screen. When Pro Tools starts up do you see all the standard splash screen complete, plugins load etc? Is that splash screen top most of all window (i.e. it has focus?) or is it hiding behind any other windows at times? When the problem occurs does clicking on the finder desktop then clicking on the Pro Tools icon in the dock bring up the Pro Tools menu bar? If so what is happening is simply the Pro Tools app is not getting focus so not getting to draw it's menu bar. Clicking on the icon in the dock gives the app focus. When this happens it may be something as simple as you have clicked on the finder or some other app Window while Pro Tools is launching (any time after its icon starts bouncing in the dock, even before the splash screen appears). Try double clicking the Pro Tools icon to launch Pro Tools and then leave the mouse *totally* alone, do not move or click it and see if the splash screen finishes and then the menu bar appears. And if not clicking the mouse yourself it may be some other app or utility grabbing focus or some utility/tool firing a mouse click. Have you got Pro Tools set to open with the Dashboard menu on screen? Not having the Dashboard appear makes it a lot easier to be fooled by the behavior I'm describing. If you click on the Finder or some other app window while Pro Tools is starting up the Dashboard will eventually appears but with no corresponding menu bar as Pro Tools does not have focus until you click on the Dashboard window, then the menu bar appears. Try all this, you should be able to produce/work around the menu bar not appearing on start up. I'm not sure there is a bug here, I'd need to think more about Apple's UI guidelines but I suspect this is working correctly if you are seeing the same as I do. The way to avoid being confused by this behavior is to have the Dashboard appear or to open Pro Tools by opening a session file from the Finder. At one time I thought this was related to the macOS spaces settings but I don't any more. And again even if you are not clicking on the finder or other app Windows this may be caused by something else you have running that is grabbing focus, even if it does not paint a menu bar. Are you seeing the Finder menu bar instead of Pro Tools or is it some other app, or at some time only some other app? Make sure you don't have any keyboard or automation tools installed that are causing problems. Still stuck, try creating a new macOS admin account and try running Pro Tools from that account.
