This would be fantastic, though I think it would need to be implemented within ProTools, not a 3rd party app.

Audiosuite Rack. Load what plugins you want. Process in order with one process click.
I know it isn't plugin manager. I think anything beyond what they have now would be better.

+1 for an Audiosuite rack!
Something like the Soundminer one maybe. Surely that would be fairly easy to implement?

I can't really see what a "Audiosuite Rack" would do for me that I can't do with track presets and commit/freeze?

Well, I see a lot of useful ideas here. Maybe I missed this but it would be nice if a manager could tell which plugin(s) are actually causing the crash when Pro Tools inevitably does.

There are no plugins running through the insert in this case. Ergo, Audiosuite Rack.

I use several Internet Development Environment applications (WebStorm, Visual Studio Code, etc.)
They all have PlugIn Managers. Pro Tolls NEEEDS This. It's not hard. 1. A tab showing your current installed plugins. And a little "Update" button next to each one that can be updated 2. A tab showing like a marketplace. Where you can search/sort every AAX plugin there is. Along with a "Install" button to install it (licensing and purchasing would be handled via web browser). Attached are some examples from IDE's. Come on Avid. Take your Marketplace menu and make it something actually worthwhile!

the ability to create sub folders in the Plugin dropdown ( like logic :-/ ) A reverb sub folder drop down for reverbs types PLATES SPRINGS HALLS be nice to have the ability to drag all the PLATES i have from various manufactures in to the PLATES sub folder same again with different dynamic types.. VCA, FET, Vari mu , Opti etc SO when i am looking for example a VCA Compressor, all my VCA style comps are all in in place form varying maunfatures .. including the ones a dont remember buying!! I'd settle for a "plugin folder" manager as that's possible without Avid involvement.
Something that can database plugins, keep alternative/previous version numbers elsewhere perhaps, allow favourite lists "most minimal", "composing essentials","trying new stuff","suspect these crash but need for recall" etc Maybe something that could parse a text export of a session info and place correct versions into the plugin folder for that recall. I've experimented with macOS Tags and you can after a fashion make your own lists, 1 Factory, 2 Essential etc and sort via Finder with tags visible, dragging back and forth into unused. Plugin vendors that make their own folders are a bit of a pain for this though and any update breaks it. The new PT scanning and activating when the program is running mean somebody could perhaps make something as the new functionality helps, or maybe there's a macOS tag app that could be refashioned? I'd try something if ZX Basic programming worked on Mac, my level of skill. 10 Print "Can We Have A Plugin Manager Please?" 20 Goto 10 |
