my 7.4cs2 installation runs GREAT!!!! no problems with PT just the utility. i've checked the registry just to make sure nothin' is hosing it up but i'm at a loss now. it would be nice to be able to use the utility if needed. any insight???? thanks

Do you have Pro Tools installed somewhere other than the default location?

no. everthing is default location. and what makes it strange is that 7.4 runs great on the new quad. validation went without a hitch too. i did have some trouble with SPYSWEEPER software and it interferring with my mobo fw ports on my P5K. the software is still installed tho not being used. maybe it's still the culprit. well i'll uninstall it just to be sure. still at a loss tho

mykhal c,

I had this same problem/same error message trying to run the utility. What works for me, and I have no idea why, is to run the utility from the desktop.

I get that message from the utility if I run it on a computer that doesn't have Pro Tools installed, so it's definitely having trouble finding your installation for some reason.

Do you possibly have a system that has a co-install of both WinXP and Vista?

If so - we're seeing this error in those cases and, at the moment, there isn't a fix or workaround. We're looking into getting it revved so that it works on those configs.
