Default digi 002 future support.......

anyone know any details if digi will continue supporting the digi002 when the release the 003??

I'm real worried cause I'm about to upgrade to digi002 from the 001 but i hate that they quit supporting the 001 and I'm sure a bunch of you can agree.

They lost a lot of costumers by doing that i know a guy who has been using protools (he got me into them) for last 10-15 years and he just quit using cause they quit supporting a mbox he had i guess.

I will probably leave digi if that pull this again after years with them going back to the audio media III card days. So far they have quit supporting every piece i have bought and I'm getting left behind on plugins i can get with my digi001. I would love to stay a digi user for years to come but honestly i can afford to stay if every couple years my software gets outdated due to nonsupport from digidesign.

sorry for my rant but please can anyone fill me in or am i just gonna waste my money upgrading to the digi002 now???

No one but Digidesign will be able to give you a definitive answer. As you have noted though, there is a history here to draw reasonable guesses from. In my opinion, there is no question 002 will, at some point, be cut off from software upgrades. Personally, I wouldn't choose to upgrade my 001 to a new 002 this late in the game.
A steal on a used unit, maybe.
To pay full price for technology much nearer to the end, than the beginning of it's run, wouldn't sit well with me.

Just an opinion.

Who ever said there will be an 003? Has no one payed any attention to the trend of Digi going smaller and not to mention the Avid aquisition of m-audio?!?!?
This is probably the best time yet to purchase an 002, as all of the kinks have been worked out, and there is tons of info via the DUC. Whenever you buy into technology like this, something new will be right around the corner, and you have got to dive in sometime!

Guess I really should pay closer attention.
I hardly noticed Digi welcomed M-audio into the fold and offered it's users a special version of PTLE... shortly after abandoning my 001.

What the heck, today's my 6th anniversary on the DUC.
Let bygones be bygones.

JMS40, happy anniversary!

I will agree that the 001 users got left out in the cold to an extent... It sucks too because PCI is a way better platform than firewire for audio....

thank you very much... although as it looks right now I may have to expand more into my internet clientel, as there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of music action down here... (don't quote me, as I have only been here a few days!)
The only studio I have found is in ft myers and they won't return my emails or calls. Oh well!
