Default "Your Pro Tools software is up-to-date" ... I KNOW!

Hi friends,

I updated two computers, recently (both OS X 10.8.5) to Pro Tools 10.3.8.

Both now do this --
Whenever I start Pro Tools, a dialogue labelled "Software Update" pops up telling me that "Your Pro Tools software is up-to-date."

There's a check box, too (that I've checked), that says "Do not check for updates automatically."

Both computers seem to ignore the fact that I've checked that box(?) and I have to click "OK," now, every time I start Pro Tools.

It's just a small annoyance but, frankly, it's driving me crazy.

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

Seth Samuel

Thank you Craig. How do I do that?

I found this...

HD-->Users-->Username-->Library-->Preferences-->Avid-->Pro Tools

...so, should I delete that whole folder, named "Pro Tools"? or some or all of its contents?

Its contents are:

AvidListFile.txt
DSIPrefs
InstalledAAXPlugIns
Last Used.pio
Pro Tools Prefs
updater.properties

Thanks again.

I just posted this same question last week. Throw out the actual Software Updater application in the Avid folder. If you have PT10 & PT11 there may be 2 versions of it on your system drive (there was on mine).

As was told to me, you'll know when there's software updates if you come to this site or just check the Avid website.

That prompt was driving me nuts even with the "Don't check for updates" tab checked.

Has anyone solved this… I came across this thread and thought thank God, others are having the same issue as me… someone would of solved this problem…

I've done all of the above… deleted prefs - Did not solve it.
Deleted Software Updater - Did not solve it.

Downloaded the new PT Prefs app which deleted PT11 prefs also - Did not solve it.

Any other suggestions?… It's doing my head in!

Yes have both PT10HD & PT11HD on my system running OSX 10.8.5 so sounds similar to above set ups.

Thanks for any suggestions.

There is more than one copy of it.
I found them in <HD>/Applications/Avid/Pro Tools and Applications/Pro Tools.app/Contents/Applications

After I deleted them all… it stopped...
