Default Adding a midi track crashes protools immediately

How strange in all my years of working with protools I have yet to use the midi, until now. I thought I would give it a try. I loaded up a instrument midi track. Loaded fine. I load a midi track, instant crash. Adding audio tracks or aux work no problem. No BTD problems just this strange midi. Digi, if you wan me to keep using my mpc and ableton live I will, but I really want give you guys a shot!

PTLE 7.3.1
Macbook Pro 2.0, 2gb of ram.
10.4.9
Used the manual installer to get to 10.4.9, have not updated itunes or quicktime.

I have trashed all preferences, repaired permissions, removed any strange plugs and even reinstalled the update (I did not uninstall the previous) nothing works.

Am I going to have to uninstall protools and start over. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Try this:

Go to MacHD>Users>your account>Library>Preferences>By Host and trash 'com.apple.midi.a bunch of numbers and letters.plist'.

Go to MacHD>Users>your account>Library>Preferences and trash 'com.apple.audio.audiomidisetup.plist'.

Empty the trash and restart, then see if everything is working.

The one file I did not delete was the com.apple.audio.audiomidisetup.plist.

I will delete this one along with trashing all the prefs again when I get home tonight.

Do you know if deleting that file will delete all the devices I have set up in the Audio Midi Manager?

ok. so it's still crashing. I guess I will uninstall/reinstall and see if that fixes it.

Default PROBLEM FIXED

Problem fixed. It was not the program, OSX, plist, or preferences. It was the digi002 device in AMS. Somehow the device got corrupted. I realized it when I was in AMS and I tried to open up the 002 and that program crashed. I deleted the device and restarted protools (it adds the device automatically back in) and it worked just fine.
