That's good news from someone with 35 yrs experience because I'm currently trying to decide between that and the Marantz PMD660. I've been trying to find issues and problems with either one on the net but so far haven't. On some forum I saw one off the cuff comment about the 660 having noisy preamps?

M-Audio might be hot on the trail of the R-1... this looks rather interesting. S/PDIF connections, better sample rates, etc. etc...
