Please please PLEASE Avid, let us buy the PT11 HD software without the hardware!

I would very much like to buy the HD software. I need the features. But I don't need the hardware. That's the logic, and that's the point. :)

It's more the principal of the thing and not so much what I want/need ant don't want/need. Although I might find that I actually want the Omni after all and I go out and buy it next week, it still doesn't make it right.

I kind of agree. I would also very much like to buy a new 85" HDTV without 3D features which I have no use, but I just can't because they're bundling them together.

That was exactly what happened in my case. With no clear CPTK future I went to OMNI (which I didn't need). Ok, it's a great hw and fan is very silent with new firmware, at least in my room temperatures. But the price gap is huge from PT Vanilla to first HD version.

Well this product says it's only 5 grand now, compared to 10 grand before (HD1+96interface)

If you already have a PTHD 10 license, there's no reason you can't upgrade to 11 now, correct? Just pay the $699 and surrender the PT10 license?

That's how to do it, just make sure everyone knows when you are selling that it does not come with PTHD Software, but will work with all verisions of HD Software, at least post PTHD 7.

I was able to buy the native card and PTHD 10 without buying an omni from my music store for 2250.00, but I bought the omni anyway used from work for 1600.00 , I could have just sold the card and used my MBox pro with PT HD and was thinking about it but the omni just sounds much better. I kept my MBox pro to run with my macbookpro with my regular PT 10 license and now can sync my two Pro Tools HD and none HD rigs together.
I do agree that they should sell PTHD sands the hardware.
