I just bought a new Digidesign Pro Tools Custom Keyboard for my Macbook Pro. I have Win XP installed via Boot Camp. The keyboard works perfectly on Leopard but when I go to Windows XP the keyboard does not respond at all. Now, I understand the keyboard it's for the Mac, but it should be able to work on the Windows side since I am using Boot Camp! Plus, this keyboard has no special function, its a normal Apple keyboard with paint and letters over it's keys!!
Windows recognize that an "External Apple Keyboard" has been connected and it tries to install, but then the "fatal" error comes, Code 18. Also, my mouse and external hard drive are connected to the keyboard and they work fine. I called Apple, they couldn't help, they say the keyboard it's suppose to work on Windows as well, and it's IMPOSSIBLE to talk to a HUMAN BEING when you call Digidesign. The store where I got it from can't help either (B&H in NYC)... WHAT CAN I DO? Am I gonna have to return it or what? Please help, I've been searching all over the web for 2 days now and I can not find info about this. I need the right driver for this Keyboard. ![]() Thanks, Cid |

Well, I know this isn't very helpful, but your issue isn't with Digidesign... it's with Apple.

i know this dont help to much either, but i have a mac keyboard sitting right beside me and it works just fine on my windows machine, including in pro tools. there should be no driver you have to install it should be good to go. i might try hooking it up to a usb hub then to your comp. sounds silly but sometimes it works.

Cid, are you able to run pro tools on a mac, via boot camp using XP, without any problems? I'm looking to do the same thing and I wanted to know if it was actually possible.

I keep asking but never get an answer.....why would you need to run Pro Tools in Boot Camp/Windows when it runs fine in OSX land?

i do it simply because i have way more plugins for PC than i do for Mac, other wise I'd leave it alone as maxpidgee suggests.
that said though, is anyone able to run pro tools on a mac, via boot camp using XP, without any problems??? I'm looking to do the same thing and I wanted to know if it was actually possible. Edit/Delete Message |

I can tell you it DID work for me with 10.5.5 and XP Pro on a Mac Pro quad. It ran fine, but the performance was only slightly better than the dual core PC I had at the same time. My i7 quad embarrassed the old Mac Pro quad(can't speak about the newer versions).
