Pro Tools 9 slow audiosuite "Gain" performance issues
Hey,
We have 2 PT 9 setups and both systems are experiencing the same issue. When gaining down samples in a project using the audiosuite gain plugin, the processing time becomes gradually slower as we get to the middle and end of the project. At the start, when applying gain reduction of -3db to regions of 1 second in length on 10 grouped tracks, the processing time is almost instantaneous. After going through the project and doing the same thing on regions later in the session, the processing time begins to slow up and towards the end of the track is around 30 seconds to do the same thing that took less than 1 second at the start of the track. We have tried removing unused regions from the project, inactivating any and all other tracks in the session that aren't being used, restarting to free up ram and nothing has effectively improved the performance. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. EP |

Re: Pro Tools 9 slow audiosuite "Gain" performance issues
Computer, RAM, OS version, hard drives, etc. Need more info.
Did you check for incompatible plugs? Just a question, but why not use the "Trim" plug-in?

Re: Pro Tools 9 slow audiosuite "Gain" performance issues
2 systems are mac 8core 2.88 with 2gb of ram running pro tools 9 and pro tools 9 hd. OSX 10.6.5
No incompatible plugs. Definitely a software thing, been doing this since 7.4 and never had this issue. The trim plugin is not audio suite, we have 12 snare sample tracks we are trying to velocity sample at the same time and need audiosuite to apply it. Here is the workflow on this link. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._3124463_n.jpg Sounds like a ram issue, but its been working on 8.0.4 LE on the same machines for over a year. Any other suggestions? |

Re: Pro Tools 9 slow audiosuite "Gain" performance issues
Yep. I can see why that would choke a horse.
9 may require more RAM to run and you may be running out so the system needs to swap files to the disk. Sorry I don't have a perfect solution. Try more RAM?
