Inquiry about upgrading to Pro Tools Ultimate
Hi everyone,
I currently own a Pro Tools 11 perpetual license, which is neither the Ultimate nor the HD version. I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade to Pro Tools Ultimate while keeping a perpetual license. If this upgrade option is not available, could someone clarify what upgrade options exist for users with a non-ultimate, non-HD version of Pro Tools? Thanks in advance for your help! Looking forward to your insights. Best |

Re: Inquiry about upgrading to Pro Tools Ultimate
Hi there!
I can't find any Pro Tools 11 inside the Email you registered with the duc. I can only see Pro Tools First and Pro Tools Intro. Can you PM me the iLok ID your Pro Tools 11 license is registered under so I can check? Thank you

Re: Inquiry about upgrading to Pro Tools Ultimate
There are no "upgrades" between Pro Tools levels in Avid's world. You just have to buy new. Your only option for your current perpetual license is to rejoin the support/maintenance to bring it up to the current Pro Tools Studio version (2024.10.1)
Avid no longer sells perpetual Ultimate licenses -- only subscriptions. If you need Ultimate perpetual, you need to buy a used HD or Ultimate license from eBay, Reverb, etc. and then you can bring it up to the current version by buying a support/maintenance plan from Avid ($499) to bring it to the current version. You can do this for licenses back to 9 HD. All info is here https://www.avid.com/pro-tools/upgrades-and-renewals (note you can't go between levels as I stated)

Re: Inquiry about upgrading to Pro Tools Ultimate
Got your PM. Thanks!
You can register that Pro Tools 11, then once registered and redeemed, You can purchase a renewal code for $199 which will replace your Pro Tools 11 license with Pro Tools Studio Perpetual License plus 1 year updates and support plan. This new license will let you use Pro Tools 10, 11, 12, up to the latest version 2024.10.1 plus one year of updates and support. Hope this helps. No direct upgrade to Pro Tools Ultimate is available

Re: Inquiry about upgrading to Pro Tools Ultimate
Hi Tope and everyone,
Thank you for all the help and detailed explanations. I was really hoping it might be possible at least to upgrade from the Studio version to Ultimate, but unfortunately, it seems that’s not an option. I truly appreciate the time you all took to clarify my questions and provide guidance. It’s been very helpful, and I now have a much clearer understanding of the available options. Thanks again to Tope and the entire community! |

Re: Inquiry about upgrading to Pro Tools Ultimate
Hi everyone,
I just heard back from Avid Customer Support, and they confirmed that it’s possible to upgrade. The option is called Pro Tools Ultimate Trade-Up. Avid mentioned that this upgrade can only be purchased from their authorized resellers. I also looked around online, and I found it available on some reseller websites. Hope this helps anyone in a similar situation! Best |

"Trade up" is $1899. Tope's sweetwater price link above for a new Ultimate perpetual is $1499.
